AGHIA SOPHIA CHANDELIER
This unique chandelier was designed for the Saint Sophia Cathedral in London, a Greek Orthodox church commissioned in the 1870s to architect John Oldrid Scott and executed in Byzantine Revival style. Throughout the decades, several interventions have been added, each one adding a contemporary touch (for the time) to the existing layout.
With this in mind, Michael Anastassiades conceived a chandelier for the church with linear light bulbs, echoing the memory of the candles once used to illuminate the space through present technology.
