FORBIDDEN FRUIT COLLECTION FOR EXPERIMENTADESIGN, 2017
‘No matter how many times a day I decide to consume a fruit, I am always fascinated by the moment I am about to reveal the inside flesh. I am surprised by how different the texture inside is, or how juicy or colourful it is in relation to the outside skin that has been protecting it all this time.’
Michael Anastassiades created the Forbidden Fruit collection for experimentadesign’s First Stone programme, which explores the use of stone in architecture and design through three core projects: Resistance, Still Motion and Common Sense. These projects are experimental by nature and use exclusively Portuguese stone, along with its industry and manufacture. Each one highlights some of the main characteristics of Portuguese stone, as well as its importance and potential, through the interpretations of a group of architects and designers.
